Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, has been admitted to hospital after apparently suffering a heart attack during a flight between London and Los Angeles.
Fisher, 60, was apparently rushed to hospital when the plane landed, after having apparently gone into cardiac arrest just minutes from landing.
According to reports, flight attendants had requested assistance from passengers on the flight and an EMT who was sitting in the back of the plane assisted.
Her brother Todd has since said she was in intensive care in Los Angeles.
“If everyone could just pray for her that would be good,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “The doctors are doing their thing and we don’t want to bug them. We are waiting by patiently.”
Fisher had been on tour promoting her latest book, The Princess Diarist.
According to the LAX Police Department, officers responded to Terminal 7 around 12:15 p.m local time, for a call of a female passenger in cardiac arrest. On arrival, they found paramedics performing CPR on the victim.
United Airlines issued a statement saying that Flight 935 from London to Los Angeles was met on the ground by medical personnel after the crew reported that a passenger was “unresponsive”, but did not name the passenger, Reuters reported.
