Alexandria detectives intercepted and arrested a man transporting stolen goods from Kenton on Sea to Port Elizabeth over the weekend.
police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, said Sergeant Sunet Bakkes, a detective from Alexandria, had received information regarding stolen goods on Sunday, at about 10:30. Together with Constable Gxogxo, also a detective from Alexandria, she rushed to the R72 and waited for the suspected vehicle to arrive.
“The vehicle was stopped with the assistance of the Vispol members on patrol,” said Govender.
“The vehicle was searched, and Constable Gxogxo noticed something behind the Speaker Box. The Speaker Box was unscrewed and various tablets, cell phones, cameras, sunglasses and perfumes were found hidden.”
The estimated value of the items recovered is R80 000.
“A 25-year-old male has been arrested and detained,” said Govender.
She said the man was charged with possession of suspected stolen property.She said the goods recovered are suspected to be related to housebreaking cases that occurred in Boknes earlier in the month.
